And when we say “pragmatic flexibility” we mean “it’s not a flip-flop if you have no actual core beliefs’

Obama reversed himself twice this week, at least that I am aware of, and in both cases he did the right thing.  Not the thing he promised to do on the campaign trail, but the right thing for the nation.  As has been well documented, all of Barry’s promises come with an expiration date.  As a sane person, I am happy with Barry in respect to these two reversals,

He said he would oppose making the detainee pictures public — a switch that could put him at odds with a federal judge who ordered them released. And he declared that the administration would stick with a modified version of the Bush administration’s military tribunals for trying terrorism suspects; during the campaign he had promised to rely on federal courts and the traditional military justice system.

So basically just carrying on with the same policies adopted by Bush, for which he was pilloried by the left, but which are in the best interest of the nation.  However, many who voted for him will not be pleased with those decisions.  They are slowly realising what those of us who opposed him knew all along.  He will say anything to get elected.  He will tell you what you want to hear.  In some cases he will tell you he is against something, gay marriage for example, but he will not be subjected to outrage because they just know that secretly he is for it.  One day he may be, if it will benefit him in some way.  But the icing on the cake, and the reason I am writing this piece, is because of the adulatory way the LA Times has found to describe this basic lack of principle, and the ingenious way they have managed to contrast it with that evil George Bush.  Pure brilliance.

a glimpse into one of the most striking features of the new president’s approach to decision-making.

Unlike his predecessor, George W. Bush, who styled himself as “the Decider” and took pride in sticking with decisions come what might, Obama is emerging as a leader so committed to pragmatism that he will move to a new position with barely a shrug.

Under Barry even flip-flopping is cool.  Wanna know why?  Barry hip.  Bush bad, and stupid.  This guy introduces nail to head,

“I think he’s pragmatic,” said Curt Levey, executive director of the conservative Committee for Justice, which is gearing up for a possible fight over Obama’s Supreme Court nominee. “He’s trying to compromise. But is he also an idealist? If ‘idealist’ means soaring rhetoric, that’s easy. But if it means you’ll fight for what you believe in, even when it’s not pragmatic, then no.”

Ouch!  Read the entire love-fest here.  More analysis over at Patterico, plus a lively discussion.  And so it continues over at Hot Air.
