He’s good enough, he’s smart enough and doggone it, people like him
Even in its death throes, the LA Times cannot help but continue to fawn over Barry. It laments the fact that because The One is so tragically hip, smart and beloved there is no humor to be found in anything he does. They even cite nutjob Bill Maher, who
joked that Republicans were feeling particularly superstitious: “They say the country is having bad luck because there’s a black cat in the White House.” The studio audience erupted in loud groans and boos
That’s funny right there. But his logic, that people revere Obambi too much for him to be mocked, is severely flawed. This was an audience of kindred spirit left wing nutters. Who else would go to see Maher?  These are the same folks who collapse in paroxysms of laughter if you merely combine the following words in a sentence, “Bush” and “stupid.” The same folks who derided Bush for having forsaken golf in a time of war as not being enough of a sacrifice, who would have flayed him alive had he dared to play golf in a time of war. We’re not talking geniuses here.  The article does hint at the real reason, that of racism.
But it’s Obama’s African American heritage more than any other single factor that has perhaps frozen comics’ pens and keyboard
Interesting, that a supposed post-partisan, post-racist President, who is as much black as he is white, should instill such fear. The piece even goes so far as to suggest that Big Ears doesn’t even make gaffes, which ironically is hilarious. Between Barry and Slow Joe you have an encyclopedic amount of stumbles and factual inaccuracies, as I noted here and here.
I think it is closer to the truth to say that they know how tenuous his grip really is. They know that his policies are going to have little effect. However, they cannot afford to acknowledge this publicly, They anointed him. They deified him. They are also scared of him. Remember, beneath his Danny Ocean, rat-pack style cool hides a ruthless Chicago pol who has bent and broken the rules on his meteoric rise. All in all, a sad state of affairs.
Update:Â Every day he gives them new material, as Michelle Malkin notes.
