Where do I send the check?
From the I-cannot-believe-they-are-so-stupid-files, we learn that ACORN has decided to sue Breitbart, O’Keefe and Giles for secretly video-taping the criminal activity in multiple offices across the nation. This is after Big Bertha, the chief idiot, thanked them for having drawn such activities to her attention. In case you’ve been living under the box of rocks that was cracking up in the previous post, you can catch up on the scandal here.  From Politico,
ACORN, taking a break from its apology tour, said today that it’s filing suit against James O’Keefe, Hannah Giles and Andrew Breitbart’sBreitbart.com. The complaint: “The video and audio footage was taken without the knowledge of Williams and/or Thompson and in violation of Maryland’s Courts and Judicial Proceedings Code §§ 10-402(a) and 10-410, which requires two party consent to all electronic surveillance. Violation of the law is a felony, and entitles parties whose rights were violated to sue.”
Obviously an intimidation tactic, but one that is destined to fail. What sane person, I know I know, would object to someone telling them that their employees were acting illegally in their name? This lawsuit will only serve to draw more attention to ACORN’s plight. Like many before them, they will screech that they are suing to protect their honor/dignity/integrity, which the former MSM will dutifully report, then quietly drop the suit when the grim spectre of discovery rears its ugly head, which the media will bury on the back page. Dutifully. Except, it will not work this time. In fact, those days are over, if they only took a moment to realize it. No longer can these stories be buried by the networks or the newspapers. They are no longer the filters through which  we get our news, as Breitbart and his Big Government/ Big Hollywood sites have proven. Bring it on!
As soon as they post an address for donations to the defense fund, and I hope they do, I will update accordingly.
The usual lively discussion can be found at Hot Air.
Update:Â From the AP,
The two employees seen in the video were fired after it was posted online. The lawsuit says the employees, Tonja Thompson and Shera Williams, suffered “extreme emotional distress.”
I just want to be clear here. You are now contending, via your lawsuit, that their rights were somehow violated because they were secretly taped, but you fired them anyway? Might not that have contributed to their “extreme emotional distress” a teensy bit? Just sayin’.
Michelle Malkin has more.
Incredibly, it looks like they are looking for around $5M in total, according to DRJ at Patterico’s.
