Someone’s telling porkies…
Let’s review the Van Jones case, shall we? Yesterday, I wrote,
Let me translate for you. Because we knew he would not be able to survive any serious scrutiny because of his radical views and positions we decided to make him a “czar” which neatly circumvents the process, which in turn enabled him to avoid the scrutiny that would have revealed those failings that we failed to uncover had we subjected him to our normal vigorous vetting procedure-which we didn’t…or something like that.
So, I think we are quite clear on where I stand. Fox News backs me up,
Van Jones, the Obama green jobs czar who resigned shortly after midnight Sunday, did not fill out the exhaustive questionnaire White House officials required of every Cabinet-level secretary and deputy-secretary position. An administration official said special advisers to the president, or czars, are not required to fill out the questionnaire that runs 7 pages and contains 63 questions. The entire questionnaire, the official said, is reserved for appointees who must win Senate confirmation.
Well, that explains it then. Or does it? From Time,
Though over 7,000 jobs are expected to become available in President-elect Barack Obama’s Administration, applying for them is not for the faint of heart — or character. In order to compete for any of the positions…
Drat! Which is it then. Time must be right because Barry promised higher ethical standards and increased transparency, remember? All of Barry’s promises come with an expiration date, you should know that by now. So Jones was not required to fill out a questionnaire. Was it because his responses would have been a red flag? Probably. Was it also because by not having him complete it, it left the White House with some “plausible deniability” wiggle room? Assuredly. But why, I hear you cry, would The One want someone who is an avowed Communist, who thinks that 9/11 was perpetrated by our own government and who actively supported a convicted cop-killer on his staff? (Insert your own Rahm Emanuel joke there.) Because he fits right in with the thinking of the rest of that crowd. To them, he is mainstream. Remember, Barry listened to the sermons of Rev Wright for over twenty years and heard nothing untoward. What does that tell you?
Hot Air has a wicked discussion under way.
Update: Charles Krauthammer makes my point, only more eloquently than I. As usual.
More over at Patterico’s with the inimitable DRJ.
