For once, I agree with Obama, but even when he is right, he is still wrong…
Yeah, I know, it’s like hell froze over, or something. The very disturbing news that the perpetrator of the Lockerbie bombing in 1988 that killed 270 innocent people has been released on humanitarian grounds was bad enough. That he was welcomed back in Tripoli by an adoring and admiring crowd does not surprise, but it does disgust. From The Telegraph,
Hours after the Scottish National Party administration in Edinburgh announced its decision to free him, Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi, the only man convicted of the 1988 atrocity, flew home to a hero’s welcome in Tripoli. Megrahi, a former Libyan intelligence agent, has terminal prostate cancer and has less than three months to live. Kenny MacAskill, the Scottish justice minister, said freeing him showed Scotland’s “humanity.â€
It has nothing to do with “humanity” and everything to do with stupidity. This man served 1.54 weeks for every murder he committed. He should have been left to rot in his cell, despite his cancer, which some might consider would have been a merciful release considering the heinousness of his crime.
Mr Obama said: “We have been in contact with the Scottish government, indicating that we objected to this, and we thought it was a mistake.”
Whilst I applaud Barry for stating the obvious, I would also like to draw your attention to this photo taken just 6 weeks ago.
Yep, that’s Barry shaking the hand of Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi, a terrorist-sponsoring, tent-dwelling, America-hating, pedophile-worshipping, seventh century throw back who, most likely at this very moment, is “celebrating” the return of the “hero” who committed the worst mass murder ever in British legal history.  And laughing at the “humanity” of stupid, misguided, appeasing westerners with undisguised, and well founded, contempt. The Washington Post has more on that debacle.
