He warnt as uppity as I thought…
…said Vice-President Slow Joe Biden, who somehow managed to sneak into Barry’s little make up beer-fest. Alright, He didn’t really say anything of the kind, but you know he thought it, and Barry was relieved when the meeting ended without him expressing sentiment like it. According to initial reports the meeting seems to have gone off without a hitch with the two protagonists agreeing to disagree. From Jake Tapper, ABC News,
In the less than two minutes that we were out there, Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Sgt. Jim Crowley did almost all of the talking. It didn’t appear chummy, but then again Gates has said Crowley racially profiled him, falsified a police report about him, and owes him an apology. Crowley says he did nothing wrong, resents being portrayed as a racist, and has said he came here with the understanding that he and Gates had agreed to disagree.
As of this writing both Obama and Crowley have issued statements that are largely content neutral and designed to smooth over the incident, as you would expect from a Law Enforcement professional, and as we would have liked to have seen in the first place from our President. Gates has, so far, said nothing. It won’t be long though. he can’t help himself. In case you’ve been living under a rock here is the back story.

This is why people issue statements as opposed to hold press conferences. Firstly, it is hard to say this stuff and keep a straight face while all around you are giggling. Secondly, there are no follow up questions that might cause you to drop the mask of civility and reveal your true self. Which is important when you have another PBS documentary, that no-one will watch, to fabricate under the pretense of racial healing. What a jackass!

I figured out what Gates’ real job is.
Blacks sometimes run into the “life sucks” things, as we all do, from time to time.
If the black man in question can be convinced that the life sucks moment was a matter of racism, that is a “false positive”.
The more accumulated positives, false or otherwise, the more likely the next life sucks moment will be ascribed to racism.
Gates’ job is to convince as many blacks as possible to see racism where it isn’t, in order to increase the number of false positives–which count just as much as the real thing when trying to figure out the world.
