Perhaps OJ could teach a class on self-defense…

Or maybe, Phil Spector could write a column on first date etiquette.  After all, Professor Henry Gates has come to the conclusion that his juvenile outburst could become a “teachable moment.’  I certainly learned a lesson from his disgusting temper tantrum, but not the one he thinks.  More to do with the continued damage inflicted upon this country by affirmative action.  I digress.

If you need a recap, please read my previous thoughts here.   Remember, when this pompous ass was arrested he hollered “Why? Because I’m a black man in America?”  What on earth has been his experience as a “black man in America?”  It most likely has been a journey of privilege gained by dint of the fact that he is a black man.  The joys of affirmative action.  Living, as he does, in his Ivy Tower (pun intended) do you seriously think he has spent a moment on the mean streets of, say, Compton or its like?  Yet, he presumes to school Sgt Crowley on racism and the urban experience, even as his driver was helping him unload his luggage.  No doubt with his valet hovering in the background.  What a dreadful poseur.

After sputtering dire threats for the last few days he now seems to have reached the conclusion that he should use his “struggle” in order to educate us rubes in general, and the good officer in particular.  His arrogance is staggering, from MyWay,

Black Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. says he’s ready to move on from his arrest by a white police officer, hoping to use the encounter to improve fairness in the criminal justice system and saying “in the end, this is not about me at all.”

Oh, but it is about you.  Just not in the way you would like.  He needs to be exposed as the race-baiting charlatan that he really is.  I hope the Cambridge P.D release all tapes and recordings that they have.  I hope Sgt Crowley, with the aid of his union, keeps the pressure on this waste of space.  I suspect The White House will use its influence to make this go away as it is immensely embarrassing to the Prez as it, yet again, reveals his true thoughts on America.  A “white man’s greed” and Rev Wright all over again.  Here’s why it is imperative to keep this story in the headlines until Gates publicly apologizes to both Crowley and the police in general.  From the Gail King Show,

King: So, uh, it says that you have demanded an apology from him …

Gates: As a human being.

King: What are you asking for, specifically from him?

Gates: I would love to meet with Sgt Crowley …

King: Really?

Gates: I would love for him to look me in the eye and say ‘Professor Gates, I am sorry. I am sorry for the way I treated you. I am sorry for the fabrications I..I had to put in that report. And if he’s sincere, I would forgive him as a human being.

And this,

Gates: Ah, well I think that he is probably trying to protect himself. I think he feels very vulnerable. Uh, I think he knows that (a) what he did was wrong and (b) that, um, he falsified his report.

He flat out calls Crowley a liar.  Would you sit down for a beer with someone who called you a liar?  I would.  But only to punch him in the face.  Mark Steyn has an incisive piece on the whole debacle, that I insist you read, but this caught my eye,

I confess I’ve been wary of taking Henry Louis Gates at his word ever since, almost two decades back, the literary scholar compared the lyrics of the rap group 2 Live Crew to those of the Bard of Avon. “It’s like Shakespeare’s ‘My love is like a red, red rose,’” he declared, authoritatively, to a court in Fort Lauderdale.

As it happens, “My luv’s like a red, red rose” was written by Robbie Burns, a couple of centuries after Shakespeare.

The “learned” professor, indeed.  His type are becoming increasingly irrelevant in today’s world for obvious reasons and it makes them desperate, as I wrote yesterday,

this man is a black professor, in a town with a black mayor, in a state with a black governor, in a country with a black (alright half-black) president.  We have made huge strides.  Screaming “racist†in a crowded college, erroneously, helps no-one

From MyWay News again,

“If my experience leads to the lessening of the occurrence of racial profiling, then I would find that enormously gratifying,” Gates said on The Root. “Because, in the end, this is not about me at all; it is about the creation of a society in which ‘equal justice before law’ is a lived reality.”

You experienced “equal justice before law” but you thought you were above it due to your inherent elitism.  Those are pretty words Prof, but your actions belied them.  You are a phony, and we are on to you.

Patterico has more, plus the enviable debate.  Hot Air is all over it.

Update:  That’s what I’m talking about.  Rep. Thaddeus McCotter is proposing a resolution that will demand Obama apologise.  He won’t, but the object is to get everyone on record as to where they stand.  From The Hill,

McCotter’s resolution would demand Obama “retract his initial public remarks and apologize to Cambridge, Massachusetts Police Sergeant James M. Crowley for having unfairly impugned and prejudged his professional conduct in this local police response incident.”

Attaboy!

Update 2: Over at Patterico there is a new story regarding an LA Times story that will boggle your mind, here is an excerpt,

In front of him, an attractive white woman walked across the road, catching his eye. Behind him, a white policeman turned on his lights and pulled Wyche over.   But there would be no fireworks. The officer warned Wyche about an expired tag on his Porsche, and drove away…

But that isn’t the end of it,

“So that was my moment,†Wyche said, with a laugh. “Did he run my tag just because I stared at this white girl?â€Â  Wyche figures he will never know whether he was profiled

He probably was, I mean it couldn’t possibly be related to the expired tag, could it?  And he was let off with a warning.  Sheesh!

Michelle Malkin disagrees with McCotter.  The gang is all here as Big Hollywood weighs in.
