Many a true word spoken in jest.
From Newsalert we have this absolute gem of a quote,
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said Tuesday that the health-care reform bill now pending in Congress would garner very few votes if lawmakers actually had to read the entire bill before voting on it. “If every member pledged to not vote for it if they hadn’t read it in its entirety, I think we would have very few votes,â€
Well, if that don’t beat all! These fools that we send to DC are so entrenched that they are not even embarrassed to admit how lousy a job they do. Such is their sense of entitlement that they cannot even imagine that making such a statement is a colossal gaffe. Why would they? Every election cycle we re-elect around 95% of incumbents.Â
Hoyer was responding to a question from CNSNews.com on whether he supported a pledge that asks members of the Congress to read the entire bill before voting on it and also make the full text of the bill available to the public for 72 hours before a vote. In fact, Hoyer found the idea of the pledge humorous, laughing as he responded to the question.
He thinks it’s funny. Coming from a House that just last week voted for A “Cap and Trade” travesty that even had a placeholder in it, which is to say it was not even a complete bill, his derision sets a new low in politics. Sadly, I doubt the Republicans will rush to use this in any campaign commercials as they are for the most part as lazy as the Democraps. So, once again, they circle the wagons to ensure the status quo. Know what would be really funny? If the good folks in Maryland declined to re-elect this putz next time around.
As usual, Hot Air has more, including a comment section that this young blog can only dream of.
