House of Cads?

Yesterday’s vote on the cap and trade bill supposedly to limit the effects of so-called climate change, which does not even exist, was very instructional.  The hogs in the House put on a disgusting display of which they should be ashamed…were they capable of such an emotion.  The whole process was so revealing, and reviling, that it is difficult to know where to begin.  Here are some thoughts on the whole sorry episode that struck me.  It would take a book to record all their mis-deeds, so consider this an appetizer.  We already know that the main sponsor of the Waxman-Ma[la]rkey bill had no intention of actually reading it.  We know there are many reasons to abhor the contents, at least what little we know of them.  I thank the 44 sane Democrats who voted against the insanity.  It may cost them, but it is important to stand on principle.  Or did they?  Perhaps they were merely being pragmatic.  Many were in districts that they barely won, so a “no” vote may have been prudent.  Likewise the 8 rat-bastard Republicans who voted for this massive tax increase were likely attempting to hold on to slim majorities in their districts.  Therein lies the problem.  Their desire to remain in power trumps any principled objection they might have.  Every single time.  Here are the tr8tors, with thanks to Michelle Malkin,

Bono Mack (CA) (202) 225-5330
Castle (DE) (202) 225-4165
Kirk (IL) (202) 225-4385 (And he’s seriously considering running for Senate!)
Lance (NJ) (202) 225-5361
LoBiondo (NJ) (202) 225-6572
McHugh (NY) (202) 225-4611
Reichert (WA) (202) 225-7761
Smith (NJ) (202) 225-3765

Remember those names.  If only four of them had voted the other way this boondoggle could have been stopped in its tracks.  There must be consequences.  It has been pointed out that it will never make it through the Senate.  I hope not.  However, it is very disheartening to see that more than 50% of those in the House think that this power grab is a good idea.  The manner in which Democraps have run the House, since they took it back, is very disturbing.  Yesterday we had the spectacle of this,

At approx. 2:35pm Eastern, GOP Rep. Joe Barton announced that there is now a placeholder in the bill to be determined later.

A placeholder is essentially blank sheets of paper inserted into a bill with the details to be filled in later.  What the…?  We later discovered it was put here by that trustworthy soul Barny Frank.  The one who helped decimate the entire mortgage and real estate industry in his rush to make homes available to those that could not afford them.  The same Frank whose judgement allowed him to answer a personal ad in a gay publication, then have the respondent move in with him, who then operated a gay prostitution ring from Barney’s basement.  That Barney Frank.  For which there were no sanctions, because he has a “D” after his name.  For “dunce” perhaps?

Next we were treated to Waxman encouraging people to come visit with him so that he could sweeten the pot for them, by granting some concession or other in order to purchase a vote, as Barton remarked,

Barton continues: “If you haven’t made your deal yet, come on down to the floor.” Waxman is making deals to pass the cap and trade bill right on the House floor.

Barton: “This is unprecedented…At least he’s doing it out in the open now.”

Charming!  Must give credit to GOP Rep. Barton.  At least he was trying to shine a light on these cockroaches,

4:53pm: GOP Rep. Barton refers to suppressed EPA Carlin report. “The science is not there.”

Barton cites Spain’s green jobs boondoggle. Costs 2.2 regular jobs for every green job. “That’s not a revolution I want to be a part of.”

Except that none of the networks were even paying attention.  They were obsessed with the recent death of a drug addicted child molester, of which more at Patterico’s,  who had a hit record a quarter of a century ago.  Good job, White House stenographers.  Even the House succumbed to the same tomfoolery when they temporarily halted the rape of our economy to pay tribute, led by that perennial dim-wit Sheila Jackson Lee,

On Friday, the House observed a moment of silencein the King of Pop’s honor. That effort was spearheaded by the Congressional Black Caucus, of which Jackson-Lee and Watson are both members.

Priorities.  This the same clueless numpty that shrieking about CO2, as Michelle reported,

10:14am: Crikey. Sheila Jackson Lee is babbling about “getting the carbon out of the air.”

Seriously, this is fifth grade level science.  No carbon means no oxygen, as any tree will tell you.  Photosynthesis-good, you moron.  Your elected officials and tax-dollars at work.  Makes you proud, doesn’t it?  So desperate were the Dems they even dragged a certain Kennedy out of rehab, no not that one,

In a clear sign that Democrats need every vote they can get on climate change legislation, Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) has returned from medical treatment for alcoholism to vote on the bill.  Kennedy, who has missed every vote since going into rehab on June 12, was seen on the House floor talking to his Democratic colleagues, most likely looking for rolling papers.
OK, I admit I made up the bolded part.  What a dreadful bunch of reprobates we have representing us.  It’s enough to make you want to cry..
There’s more.  From WashingtonExaminer.com we learn that the extra 300 pages that were added, were written in such a cryptic fashion, that even if they had been read, it would not have been comprehensible.

But they cannot be simply combined, because the amendment contains 300 pages of items like this: “Page 15, beginning line 8, strike paragraph (11)…” How many members of Congress do you suppose have gone through it all to see how it changes the bill?

Slpendid!

Doctor Zero has a positive piece on how we can “fix” Government.  John Boehner did a reasonable job trying to stop the madness.  Hot Air has video of his latest efforts.
