If Barry ever loses face, he would still have one left…

For all his “soaring rhetoric” underneath it all, Barry is just your standard issue politician.  As this report from the increasingly more forceful Jake Tapper reveals, where The One stated,

Obama’s expressed hope today in his weekly address “that we can avoid the political posturing and ideological brinksmanship that has bogged down this (Supreme Court nomination) process,

Unfortunately for Barry, Tapper goes on to point out that he is the only President ever to have been instrumental in attempting to filibuster a Supreme Court nominee.  Ever. 

In January 2006, then-Sen. Obama joined 24 colleagues in a futile effort led by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., to filibuster the Supreme Court nomination of now-Justice Samuel Alito.

As Barry would most likely stammer, that was different.  Read the whole thing.  No-one is suggesting that Republicans are going to filibuster Sotomayor, in fact it is extremely unlikely, but Barry’s about face is amazing now that the shoe is on the other foot.

Also, I am amazed by both his, and spokesidiot Gibbs, attempts to step back from the comments made by Sotomayor.  Comments that would have outraged the left, and the media, back when that evil George Bush was in the White House.

Sonia Sotomayor, who finds herself under intensifying scrutiny for saying in 2001 that a female Hispanic judge would often reach a better decision than a white male judge. “I’m sure she would have restated it,” Obama flatly told NBC News, without indicating how he knew that.

He has not spoken with her. She has not spoken publicly of her remarks.  But, Barry is “sure.”  Luckily, here comes Gibbsy to the rescue,

Robert Gibbs, told reporters about Sotomayor: “I think she’d say that her word choice in 2001 was poor.”

Gibbs, however, said he did not hear that from Sotomayor directly. He said he learned it from people who had talked to her, and he did not identify who those people were.

I am glad we cleared that up.  He “thinks” she would say her word choice was poor.  Again, he has not spoken with her, but heard it from a friend of a friend of a friend.  Back to Barry again,

“ I think all this nonsense that is being spewed out will be revealed for what it is,”

Note the tone.  Nonsense.  Spewed.  It most certainly will be revealed, Barry.  It will be revealed that all we are doing is repeating her words verbatim.  Not words from an off the cuff speech, or an unguarded moment, either.  Words from a prepared speech she gave at Berkeley.  You can twist it around all you want, they are still her words, and after all, as you yourself said, “words must have meaning.”

As Slick Willy famously said, “It depends on what your definition of “is” is.”
