You can take the boy out of Chicago…

…but should we be surprised when he exhibits the exact same Chicago- way strong arm tactics that got him where he is today?  I am of course referring to Dear Leader and the reports that are swirling around the blogosphere that the Chrysler dealers who were tagged for closure were Republican supporters and donors.  As Allahpundit at Hot Air pointed out, he’s,

skeptical that this is as bad as it looks — it’d be politically suicidal, for no benefit greater than petty revenge

On the face of it I would agree.  However, we live in very scary times.  Barry promised audacity, in fact he wrote a book about it, or at least someone did, and his  political background practically demands ruthlessness.  I have written before that he is emboldened on a daily basis by a compliant press which offers no scrutiny, and an adoring public that is loathe to admit that it bought a pup.  A perfect combination for Barry to make these audacious moves unchecked.

Doug Ross at Journal has been the go to guy on this story.

no one here is saying that the sole criterion for closing a dealership was partisanship. What we ask is: does it seem odd that the list of closed dealerships appears to have contributed a grand total of $200 to Barack Obama and millions to GOP candidates/causes? “It became clear to us that Chrysler does not see the wisdom of terminating 25 percent of its dealers… It really wasn’t Chrysler’s decision. They are under enormous pressure from the President’s automotive task force.”

Quote from an attorney who Deposed Chrysler’s president last week:

The President’s automotive task force?  Another group of appointees that need no congressional confirmation, leaving them free to do The One’s bidding unrestrained.  Barry has been fond of appointing these Czars; after all, it worked so well in Mother Russia.  The implications, if true, are chilling.  As one attorney said,

There’s no cost to Chrysler associated with dealers. Dealers are a source of revenue,” Bernstein said. “A lot of people were surprised by the number of dealers Chrysler is proposing to reject…”

Please read the whole article as there is a lot of input from the dealers themselves which bears noting.

Michelle Malkin has more.
